Stephanie visits the big city

Stephanie came out for the weekend and we did a little shopping, hip hopping, and be-bopped down to Broadway for the Rocky Horror Show.

Stephanie came to visit for the weekend. She was armed with a shopping list as long as her arm.
We grabbed a few metro cards and headed underground.
Sue's looking as blase as a New Yorker, but later on the way to "The Rocky Horror Show" on Broadway we all had a little excitement when we jumped on the wrong train and ended up in Queens.

It only took Steph a few minutes to settle in and look like a lifelong straphanger herself.
Sometimes Steph thinks Ray is her funniest uncle.
The Virgin Mega store in Time square was must stop shopping. Steph wanted to go back until she discovered the funky little independent music stores in the East Village.
Macy's was having their spring flower show, and of course there were some shopping opportunities as well.

This is the outfit that Ray picked out for Sue. She wouldn't even try it on let alone buy it.
Are these bag ladies in Washington Square Park? I think not, Rudy is still mayor. They must be dedicated shoppers.
In the median of park avenue.
Ooh, I'm not sure about this lotion but that free sample guy sure was cute.

Manhattan in the background and the wind in their hair on the Staten Island Ferry.

Don't you think I look a little like lady liberty?
Once all the sights had been seen, it was time to hit the ferry boat snack bar to refuel.
Sunday we all went to Orchard beach for Stephanie's first look at the ocean.

Beachcombing is one of Sue and Ray's favorite pastimes, and Steph joined in enthusiastically.
She found this guy (lady ?) right at the edge of the water. We decided that it was a baby lobster. Any dissenting opinions?
This many legged unidentified footlong saltwater centipede thing had us all baffled.

Steph wanted a picture of Katie included, so here she is on her bed of kelp.
The last stop before the airport was Anne Claire's, our local favorite Italian deli.
